Lance had been absorbed in a few papers. The worst part of being in his position among the knights. Dreaded paperwork. Especially since his handwriting was clearly readable. Auriaune took him by surprise when she hooked her arm around his. A brief look of confusion on his face as the words took a moment to register with him.
“I would think it may with the right permissions, Lady Auriaune.” He gave the woman a gentle smile. “You know my duty is to Lord Francel first. All you would have to do is ask the right person. For as much as you dote on the young lord, I’m sure he’d probably agree to it just to keep you safe.”
He looks up at the question, brow furrowed slightly in confusion at the sudden query. “I assure you, I am quite well thank you. Somewhat weary, but in good health and spirits,” the Ishgardian responds with a smile. “T’is sweet of you to ask.
“Ah. I am certainly fine right now.” The healer answered with a warm smile. “Though if you are weary, you should rest. Good health might not last long if you let weary turn into something worse.”
She moves lightly to come to stand before him, looking up at him with curious blue eyes as she tucks a strand of hair behind a pointed ear. “How about tea? Do you like tea? Tea is good for weariness. I know how to make a decent Ishgardian tea if that is what you prefer. I’m not much of a cook but tea is simple enough. Not to mention tea is always good to deal with the cold weather.”
Destiney took notice of that silent tear, simply choosing to lean against him. A silent offer of support and shared sorrow. The person was different yet the pain was similar. She knew all too well the feelings he was talking about. Only for her it wasn’t a sibling but her own father.
“All we can do is believe that they are watching over us and forgive us for being young and foolish. That they realize how much we loved them despite not getting one last chance to tell them.” She fiddled with the edge of a sleeve on her jacket. “And in time… Learn to forgive ourselves.”
“I was so angry with my parents when they sent me to Ishgard so they could join the fighting against the Garleans. I never told either of them that I loved them when I left. My father died in that fighting. For a long time I never forgave myself for it. I blamed myself for it. Yet I know that is not what he would have wanted. It took me a long time to realize it. He would have been ashamed of the things I did but he still would have loved me because that is what family should do.” She took a deep breath as she closed her eyes. “Yet at times I still wish I could have that second chance to say it. I wish I could say it gets easier. But no two people handle things exactly the same way. All I can do is offer to be here for you. As someone who understands.”
I found a rather handsome Duskwight lurking about the saucer today. 😛 (I swear I wasn’t trying to find him on purpose.) Get well soon friend. ❤ @duskrecluse / @kibuto
((Consider this your warning if you read this post. Will contain blood and some pretty dark stuff. A bit of torture and abuse. Alex is not meant to be a nice guy. He’s a villain. So please read at your own risk. This is what took place between him leaving Aeri’s apartment Sunday afternoon and when he met her for drinks last night. Just from the screenshots I show doesn’t do justice just how cruel he can be as a bad character. I felt it time to give writing the darker side of him a shot. @aeritria for mentions.))
