Samuru hummed as he held up a letter of invitation, his brows knitting as the pair walked through Kugane. “Ah it’s Destiney’s nameday in a week. She is having a celebration at her home.” He’d murmur to Isen as the pair walked. “It’s unfortunate we can’t make it because we’re bound to Othard at the moment.”
The Hyur nodded and took the letter to give it a glance. “It would’ve been nice to pay a visit. Maybe there is something else we can do?”
Ru rubbed at his chin and then snapped his fingers. “We could send her a gift and a letter. I know it doesn’t replace our presence but at least she’ll know we were thinking of her.” He chirped. Isen nodded in agreement as he pondered over what kind of gift to give her.
“Hm well this is more your department. Let’s have a browse in the shops and see what we can—” Isen began, his attention caught by something shiny near a merchant stall. He rushed over to the assortment of swords and daggers, his eyes growing wide at such a spectacular sight. Samuru followed along and blinked at the distraction, his eyes drifting to Isen with some concern. “I think Destiney could use some protection!” He’d turn to Samuru and grin, nodding enthusiastically. “What better thing than a dagger?”
The Elezen made a face at his husband, crossing his arms while tapping a foot. “She doesn’t want some crusty old dagger. She wants something…pretty. Perhaps something that has a nice sparkle to it.” He’d argue.
“Crusty?!” Isen exclaimed, looking insulted by such an accusation. “Look at these, they’re finely crafted art! Sleek hilts, sharp blades, the finest Kugane has to offer. She’ll love it!”
“Hmph. You sound as if you’re the one trying to sell it. Destiney isn’t an assassin, she is a healer. What in the world would she do with that?”
Isen waggled a finger, sticking to his guns on the debate. “Healers run into trouble just as much as any other. She could gut any bastard that decides to interfere with her…conjury-magic stuff.”
Samuru squinted and grit his teeth, turning to motion to another stall with an assortment of jewelry. “These are a far better choice for a gift. She’d look so gorgeous wearing any of these things.”
Isen sighed and rolled his eyes in frustration. “Those won’t offer protection! How are you not seeing the bigger picture Samuru?“
It was then that Ru turned to Isen and shot a glare at him, leaning forward to invade his space. “She wants sparkly things.” He practically growled at the Hyur, drawing the attention of the nearby crowd.
Isen wasn’t one to back down and he stepped in to close the gap between them further. “She wants stabby things.” He hissed in return, the pair holding firm to their seemingly endless stand-off.
A similar package would arrive not long after the first, the wrapping wouldn’t have been as nicely done, clearly the original person had more fines. But once opened it would be very clear as so why.
(Wow, XD I managed to find a really old screenshot of Dest with Oni before she cut her hair. This was from her first time dealing with Oni after she pushed him into the water. An the basis for this writing entry cause it’s appropriate.)
Destiney tilted her head as she looked at herself in the mirror of her room. Reaching up to touch the short ends of her hair. Remembering a time when she actually kept it long and preferred it that way.
Of course remembering that reminded her of other things too. Like her early days as a member of the Order. Her first encounter with just how special Oni is. Though granted he behaved a lot better now then back then.
Still remembering a few times he’d gotten her good with the ceruleum. Ending up with it either streaked into her hair or on her clothes. Dyeing her hair a few times to hide the blue.
Chuckling softly to herself at the memories. Not that she wanted him to dye her hair all the time. It was in itself frustrating sometimes. Yet it was also part of what made Oni… Well Oni. Though she still didn’t understand how he could actually drink the stuff.
Dropping her hand from her hair as she finished getting ready for the day ahead. A smile on her face at the memories.
(This isn’t a recent occurrence. This would have been after Dest learning the truth between Leon and Alex.)
Destiney sighed softly. Once more wondering if she had made the right choice. If giving Alex his father’s name was a good idea. Leon’s father’s name. Twelve above… To consider the truth behind that single name.
Leon and Alex were half-brothers… How had she not realized it before? There was so much in common between the two that they could have been doppelgangers of each other. Almost but not quite.
Blue eyes looked towards the desk. There sitting that vibrant green stone with it’s craved symbol. Leon’s bard soulstone. His spirit had been bound to it when he died. Lingering beyond death to watch over her. Her own guardian angel. But his spirit had been absent for a time now.
They shared the same tawny skin. The same blond hair. The main difference between them both was their eyes. Leon’s had been a pale green where Alex’s were a sharp crimson. They even had a tattoo over the same eye though in different colors.
Personality wise? They were as different as night and day. Just from looking though it should have been easy to notice. Should have been yet she had completely missed it. Probably because her first meeting with Alex had been a rather violent one.
It was ironic how much they looked alike and she had never realized it till she knew the truth of the matter.
Okay so technically I’m a derp. An forgot to mention this to friends I have through here or discord beyond my LS and FC. >.>;; Technically Stefan can’t be present since I can’t be on two characters at once. (/sad)
Anyways! Back to the point. Destiney and Stefan (yay for twins) celebrate their nameday this friday (as do I) but since I will have family aggro for dinner and a FC mission that night… XD Dest is having a small party Thursday night instead! Anyone who knows Dest (or is a friend of someone already invited) ICly is welcome to pop by her house in the Goblet Thursday night.
Goblet Ward 12 Sub Plot 50 Brimming Heart. Anywhere from 8pm est until whenever things wind down. (Have to have time for my roulettes after work~!) Yes it is an IC party outside in the yard and the small bar beyond in the new swimming area. Gifts are not expected. Just company to make this time of year a little better. 🙂
( @tidusyumemiru@samurulantis@wowiedima anyone else I don’t see much and might want to pop by. It’s an IC party so warn me ahead of time if you are just dropping by OOCly. :D)
Stefan sighed as he shook his head at his twin. “No. Try again!”
“Oh stuff it!” Destiney grumbled as she glared daggers at her brother. The heat of Thanalan and aether usage was making her irritable.
“Use your wit, sister. Neither of us has the brawn to overpower a foe. We have to use our brains. “Try the spell again. You have to get better with fire aether. I know you can heal just fine but out there in the field with those… With your Company…” Correcting the term quickly that he was going to use instead. “You wanted to be able to protect others and yourself. You wanted to fight back. So fight damn it! Do. The. Spell. Again.”
Destiney gives him another exasperated look before returning to the dummy. This was the one downside about asking her brother for help. He lacked patience for teaching. At least Lance was more patient with her when it came to working with blades. Stefan on the other hand… She wanted to strangle her brother lovingly right now.
