“I won’t let you be on your own, not when you’re like this.”

Lance grimaced at the sound of a voice. However his eyes never left the group of pirates before him. Four of them versus him. He was down on one knee, hand over his side where one of them had caught him with a blade. An him without his usual armor. The wound itself was shallow but it was still a wound. There would be bruises in a few other spots later as well.

He had only meant to do some exploring of this part of the world. He had only seen a small portion from what Miu had shown him before. The last thing he had expected was to be accosted by a bunch of pirates.

He glanced to the speaker finally. “Well if you insist you are not leaving then give me a hand. Otherwise stand aside an stay out of danger. I can’t afford to protect us both right this moment.” He pushed to his feet an raised his sword again. Sky blue eyes once more focused towards those grinning pirates.

Bruised and Broken

“What are friends for, ey?”

Destiney hissed slightly as she tested her weight on the ankle. Not broken. Thankfully. Mostly likely a sprain or twisted. An easy fix once she was not in the middle of dangerous territory. She tried to put most of her weight on her good ankle for the time being as she looked over towards her friend.

“Thanks for the save, Riski.” Destiney said with a pained smile as she nodded towards the other elezen. She waved a hand in his direction to dismiss any chance for concern on her behalf. “I’ll be fine once we get somewhere safe enough to take the chance to heal it. We should get moving before the rest of that wolf pack comes.”

She was a bit caught off guard as Riski moved to offer her to lean on him. Though honestly she should have expected it. That was just how he was. That smile on his face was reassuring as she accepted his offer.

“What are friends for, ey?”

(Thanks! @kibuto Hope you don’t mind. ^^;)

Bruised and Broken

“What are friends for, eh?” for… Lancefer.

(Oh this is going to be positively fun. Going to go in the past for this. Prior to the Betrayal prompt I wrote for Lance/Alexois.)

Lancefer wiped the back of his hand across his mouth, wiping away the blood from his busted lip. His breathing was heavy from the fight. Sky blue eyes staring at the two men across from him. Both sporting wounds of their own from the fist fight.

“Go on. Get the hell out of here before I give you another black eye, scumbags.” Alexois shouted at the two Brume thugs. “Or do you want more punishment. I can still go another round if you are looking for more bruises and blood.”

Alexois had a wild grin on his face. Knuckles bloodied but his eyes were alight with pure amusement. The thrill of the fight was burning in him. That much was clearly obvious to Lance as he pushed to stand back up from where he had fallen to one knee. He took to a fighting stance, fists raised as he stood beside Alexois.

The two men apparently thought better then to try Alex’s threat now that the odds had been evened. They gathered themselves an limped off back towards the Brume. Lance breathed a sigh of relief, body sagging and aching from the tussle. Alex was still grinning like a mad man. Halone help him for befriending the duskwight. The man was seriously crazy.

“Thank you, Alex.” Lance told the other man as he felt a hand clapping him on the back.

“What are friends for, eh?”

Alex said with a broad grin.

(Thanks Anon! 😀 Giving me yummy fun to write for Lance/Alex.)

Bruised and Broken

“if you don’t rest, you don’t heal.” ((@sunshineandlotus))

Destiney knew she had been pushing herself hard. Needed to push herself. But this was almost to the point of madness. Her body was tired. Everything ached. Between the work for the Flames, work for  the Gods’ Quiver, errands for the Wailers, and her job at the Order… She felt near the point of exhaustion. Sleep had been little. Though thankfully it wasn’t nightmares this time. Those had not bothered her for some time.

She had nearly fallen down the stairs as she came down from getting a drink to take to her room.

“if you don’t rest, you don’t heal.”

Destiney blinked an looked up to see Rhisi standing near the front door. She gave the seeker a tired smile. There was never any arguing with Rhisi. At least not to Destiney’s point of view. To her Rhisi was like the mother of the company. Fighting a battle against her real mother had always been a losing battle. The same could be said for trying to deal with Rhisi.

“Right… Sorry. I guess the rest of my work can wait for a bit. Maybe you could make me a bit of that chamomile tea? Then I promise to go rest for a while. You always make good tea, Rhisi.” Destiney smiled warmly at the company’s leading lady. A bit of that soothing tea and a good rest. That sounded good actually.

“You look tired.” – Lance

Lance had finally decided to take a break. It felt like he was chasing shadows. Every corner was another unexpected surprise. Either an enemy or a trap. He knew he should have asked Miu or Cio to accompany him like the first time. However he felt like he could not wait. His days off from duty were now often spent down here or watching over his cousin. Though thankfully things with his cousin were now more open then had been before.

He pinched the bridge of his nose as he exited from the dreaded place still no closer to any answers. The rumors still haunted him. Was Chlodebaimt’s ghost really wandering down in those ruins? He had to know. Had to do something. Even if alone.

“You look tired.”

He looked up at the words spoken. Did he really look that tired? Probably. He had been pulling extra shifts at Skyfire beyond what he did in his free time. It was probably time for a much needed break.

“Thank you, my lady. I do believe I need a break. I appreciate your words.” He said with a polite bow towards the elezen lady who had spoken to him.

“It will get better.” – Destiney

She had been looking at the flakes of snow as they fell down around her. Not once did she realize her expression had gone melancholy. She barely visited Ishgard anymore. Not since she had left roughly over three years ago after living in this cold frozen city for five years. There was no reason to.

Though a part of her everyday wished someone had stopped her that day. That someone would have kept her from going. But… Then she wouldn’t have ended up where she was now. Was what she suffered through until now worth it?

“It will get better.”

Destiney look down from the snowy sky at the sound of the voice. Her eyes found the speaker, tilting her head in thought. She had never met this woman before. Yet there was something about the elezen lady that felt… Kind.

“Thank you.” She replied quietly before offering a gentle smile. Yes everything she had suffered through would surely be worth it some day. Things would surely get better.

“If you don’t rest, you won’t heal.” – Your choice :3

Karigan sat up slowly. The pain made her ache all over. But if there was anything she hated more… It was being idle. Being idle meant no work was being done. Training was being missed. None of that was good to her. She spent many days living day to day on what she had.

Her fingers traced over bandages on her left arm. Slowly she began to check over the rest of her. More bandages in other places. Pieces of what she had been doing last before ending up in a bed at a inn began to filter back to her. The job had been dealing with pirates. Too many… Their numbers had overwhelmed her. Even all her training had done her no good.

“If you don’t rest, you won’t heal.”

Kari’s ears flattened against her head as she heard the woman speak. Blue cat’s eyes stared at the strange elezen woman. Possibly her savior. Her memory was foggy after a point of the fight.

“I’m fine. Right as rain.” Karigan said as she forced a smile. A sudden movement made her wince an nearly fall back to the pillow behind her. Maybe not so fine… “Okay I lied… But I can’t rest… I can’t afford this. I need to get back out there.”

  • “You’re bleeding!”
  • “What are friends for, ey?”
  • “So, instead of helping you, they ran off the moment they saw what was happening?”
  • “You need to look where you’re going.”
  • “I’m not accusing anyone, I’m just saying it looks suspicious.”
  • “Do you want to tell me what really happened?”

  • “H-how many of them were there?”
