Lance had been out on patrol with a couple of his fellow men in the bitter colds of Coerthas. It had not been a good day. They returned in worse shape then they had before they left. One had not made it out alive.

There had been rumors of a group of Ixal to the east of the Observatorium. He had been assigned to a team with three others on duty. They had done everything right that Lance could think of. But one mistake was all it had taken. The lad was still a novice. It should have been his duty to watch over him.

Lance had felt numb as he had asked Miu to meet with him. He had tried to act as normal as possible. Tried not to worry her. He just wanted her presence and warmth. Just needed to be around her for a bit of time. Something to calm an soothe the torrent of dark emotions in his heart.

Her words of concern stopped him cold. His face darkened with the memory of that lad who had been far too young to have his life cut so short. His fault for not watching out for the young man better. He slumped into a chair in her office an put his face in his hands. There were no tears though. A heavy sigh as he rubbed his hands across his face. He looks up with a solemn expression before reaching for her hand to hold. The reassurance of her existence.

“I’ll be fine, my lady. I’m sorry if I have worried you. It has not been a good day is all. We lost one of our own today.” He softly answered her concerned look. A moment of indecision in his eyes before closing them an taking a deep breath. “If you are worried… About me being alone right now… Don’t be. I have you. I’m never alone.”
