Syluss Koellian smirks and chuckles a bit shaking head. “I’m not a fan of long distance sea travel unless you’re there, so no worries about that.” He opens the picnic box and inside was, surprise, various forms of jerky, but also some cheese and fruits. Lots of snackable things. And plus the sangria was some regular wine too. “Eao is on this fine wine trip and she said this goes good with cheese so I am taking her word for it.”
Destiney Delvanguard giggles softly. “Your sister is always on some kind of alcohol trip. Unless it’s your sangria, I usually do a nice Gridanian white wine. So I will have to take her word for it. I’ve not had too many different types.” Reaching over to snag a bite of cheese.“Someone in my company said something funny at the party a few days ago. She thinks Aimee and Oni will beat us to getting married. This Starlight makes two years since they got engaged.”
Syluss Koellian chuckles. “I heard she got on someone about cheap wine. I can see it, but she does know good tastes in wine, so I’ll give her that. I like red wine, no specific kind really.” Taking a few crackers and placing a bit of cheese and some meat between them he makes a mini sandwich. “Is that so? Well, we have a location, I can almost guarantee the lot of your company and Eao’s will attend so we have guests. Just need a date and something else… can’t put my finger on it.” He ‘hmms’ softly and plays coy a bit.
Destiney Delvanguard holds up her hand and playfully wiggles her fingers. “You didn’t put a ring on it.” Laughing before nabbing the little snack sized sandwich from him. “I teased Yuti right back since she brought a rather nice miqo’te man with her that she’s apparently living with now. Aimee and Oni don’t even have a location or anything. I’m not worried about it at all. I already got the best prize anyways. You.”
Syluss Koellian watches his sandwich get yoinked from him and he gives her a poke in the side, making himself another one. "That’s right. You don’t have a ring yet. I actually looked for rings and couldn’t find anything that really grabbed me to make me think of you. It never really crossed my mind to have someone make one cause then it wasn’t something as special. To me anyway.” He noms his sandwich down and takes her hand and slides on a purple dragonscale ring, nearly perfect fit for her ring finger. “So I made you one myself. Because you’re worth more than some store bought ring. Made from the heart, for the woman who has mine.”
Destiney Delvanguard was definitely a total sap for such a touching thing. She wasn’t going to cry. Okay maybe a little. Staring down at the hand crafted ring on her finger for a long moment. Turning to rest her hand on his cheek and kiss him. Buy herself a moment to respond. Cause emotions. “I love it. It’s entirely perfect and entirely you. You couldn’t have done a better job then this because it’s perfect.” Wiping at her eyes. “I love you, Syl.”
Syluss Koellian was usually gruff and blunt and not exactly soft with his words or expressions to many, but the few he actually let see the softer and sappy side of him, got it in full. Watching her eyes shimmer with tears he grinned and returned the kiss taking her hand and looking at the ring around her finger. “I love you too Destiney. A dragon scale ring for the wolf’s lady.”
Destiney Delvanguard stared at their hands together with a happy sappy expression on her face. “Now all we’ll have to do is a pick a date. Though perhaps we should wait till after Starlight. I’m sure lots of people will be busy with the holiday. I want to make sure people have the chance to attend and not miss it because of family time.”
The rain outside did little to damper her spirits today. After all there were still good ways to enjoy a rainy day. Like snuggling up to the man you love and reading a good book.
Sana had gotten her the next few books in a good series she had fallen in love with. That was totally how she planned to spend a rainy day. Getting hot chocolate for two and her book. Fluffing the pillows and grabbing the large blanket.
She looked like a kid in a candy store over this new book. She was almost sure Syl was likely inwardly chuckling over her behavior. All this for a book. Well and snuggling. Can’t forget the snuggling. Dragging him into bed for the evening so she could have his touch and warmth against her as well.
The book was filled with adventure and some nice dark undertones in all the right places. Even a few steamy moments.
Syluss was inside Destiney’s house, though at this point it was about their house as much he spent there. The neighbors were more familiar with him as time went on and despite being in Thanalan, her house was situated right next to the pool entrance. Good property. But that was not on his mind. Instead he was sitting in the grass under the trees in the yard and slowly carving out a wooden ring. He held up a metal ring from Destiney’s collection and matched the sizing of it, before setting it down and adjusting it a bit more. Once he had it sized he took a small batch of fine dragon scales and layered the outside of it with a smooth covering. Once it set he lined the inside with some felt to make the ring soft and slide on and off Destiney’s finger easier. Looking over the ring, his years of woodworking and leather craft paying off.
Setting it down, the dark violet blue scales shimmered in the light. Jewelry wasn’t something he was big into wearing. But others may. And while the ring itself was exactly that, just a ring, the meaning beneath it was so much more important. A gift to his beloved, maybe not a proper engagement ring by traditional standards, yet Syluss was anything but traditional. He wanted to get his fiancé proper ring, one made from his hands and from his heart. That’s what made it special in his eyes.
Syluss was invited to have dinner with Destiney’s family. He was nervous and excited as he was still not used to the intimacy of a family dinner setting. It was gettinf easier though with each one and he was finding himself enjoying them more and more each time.
Actually combing his hair for once, he put on his nicer clean clothes and picking up a sealed jug of sangria he made, he starts off.
Knuckles lightly tapping the door, soon to open, and he steps in. Immediately the feeling of Destiney’s hand taking his puts any nervousness to ease. The family gathering afforded him time to actually meet with them in a better way than simple greetings. He was to become relatives to them and no sense remaining the odd woodsman of the group. Trying his best in such situations he was still unfamiliar with he poured everyone a glass of his sangria, Destiney always got first dibbs though.
Sitting at the table, looking at the meal, he placed a hand on Destiney’s knee to help ground him a bit. It wasn’t until a few minutes in when people ate and conversed did he find himself quite at ease. Good company, good meal. It was a good night.
Destiney had been in the kitchen for a while now helping her mother out. Cooking wasn’t exactly one of her better skills but it was passable. At least she was learning a little bit by helping out.
Stefan was in the dinning room with Esper, setting the table. Esper had a plate balanced on his fluffy head. On the plate was all the silverware settings for the table. Stefan would reach for a setting at each seat. The plate of silverware offered to him each time. Working together like the team they were even for mundane tasks.
Lance was just arriving from his shift at Skyfire, removing bits of armor near the door. After all it was easier to eat when you were comfortable. As comfortable as the armor Iria had given him for Starlight last year, he would rather have this meal without it.
All that was missing so far was Syluss and the Sangria. Destiney knew he’d be along shortly to join them. Eager for him to spend a little time with the family she loved so dear. The boys were now helping to move plates from the kitchen to the table.
Destiney went to answer the door as a knock sounded. Lighting up brightly as she found Syluss on the other side. Taking his hand as she gave him a loving smile. She lead him towards the table where the rest of the family was already settling in. Mother was at the head of the table. Stefan to her right with Esper curled up near his chair. Lance beside the mage. Leaving the left side of the table for Destiney and Syluss.
Syluss had spent the day hunting and bringing in a good haul of meat and vegetables for meals for the next several days. As such comes with hunting is many hours, sometimes days out in the wilderness masking his scent to get the perfect kill. Sometimes his scent is less than pleasant to those around him. So after prepping, skinning and curing the meat, he spent his time in the tub. He found it customary to go take a dive in an outdoor water supply to first get the bulk of the muck and stink off him before bathing inside.
Though once he was done, he let the towel be his only covering as he wandered Destiney’s house. The meat wouldn’t be ready for at least another day but food was on his mind. But in the meantime he caught glimpse of Destiney trying to tie up her hair in the braids she wore so lovely. Walking up behind her he pressed his lightly damp chest to her back and kissed the back of her head and took the hair ties from her and started braiding her hair for her. He was not bad at it but didnt do so quickly. Instead he took his time and used the excuse to braid her hair as a means of contact.
He enjoyed physical contact far more than he ever knew growing up. Once he had the woman he loved by his side so often, he used any reason to have it. Gently putting her hair into braids, he tied one off with the threads she was using. Using it as an excuse to press his face to the side of her neck and mumble his confession of love for her, he started to tend to and braid the remainder of her hair.
“I know you’re not keen on Ishgard but the Sea of Clouds is a beautiful view. A little cold, but we could ask guests to bring warm clothes.” Fingers running through her hair as he braided, somewhat asking her what she thought about Sea of Clouds as a wedding locale. Waiting for her answer he finished her last braid, setting down the hair tie thread used.
He hadn’t gotten her a ring, but to him a physical token of engagement meant less than the act of it. Tis the way of the woodsman.
Bonds. Connected by a thread of fate. No matter the distance. We will always find each other again.
Sometimes the connection between two people is the most unlikely thing you would think could happen. That they don’t fit together. But somehow it works. They fit. Like the missing pieces of a bigger whole. That the one half fits into that broken and jagged half so perfectly to make a whole.
Alex couldn’t help but fall for the small raen healer. She didn’t see him as beyond help. She believed he could change. Be better then he was. For her he was willing to fight to make that true. For Sanagi.
“You’re mine. I love you, Sana.”
Sometimes it takes that one bright and shining soul. The shining light that can break through the darkness and take that person by the hand. Guide them from the darkness and the pain. Let them heal and smile once more.
She had been hurt and used. The memories clearly still haunted her. Yet she was still the sweet little bird who had flown to his side when he made a mistake and gotten injured. Whose smile made him want to offer her the world if he could. Just to see her continue to smile. To keep his sweet rose from withdrawing back into the pain. To see her true worth. Especially in Valen’s eyes.
“Such a pretty flower, You shouldn’t hide away.”
To find that something the soul longs for. To truly live again. As that thread of fate is pulled and tugged. Sometimes gently. Sometimes shoved and pulled. As if the hands of fate are truly at work.
Lance wasn’t looking for someone. Had pretty much given up hope on such an ideal at his age. Duty. He lived for duty to the High House he served. Then in walked an angel. He could have sworn Halone herself had sent this woman to him. A tug towards the lady who offered her kindness and help to quiet the pain. Still he remained guarded yet. So afraid to let anyone close to him after all that had happened. Maybe he really did need a shove by Halone.
“Kyna, I shall do my best. I hope you will continue to help me through this.”
Sometimes that is all one truly needs. A hope. A guiding hand. To find a bond so very needed. A bond that gives them strength and steel. Makes them stronger rather then weaker. A bond that they would fight tooth and nail to protect.
Silent wings. Silent songs. A calling neither answered. Yet a small hope began to bloom as the dragon began to find herself craving the next meeting with the small miqo’te woman. So many people she couldn’t trust with the truth. Yet Bodge… Bodge she could trust. Bodge was the first person she had trusted since Roselle.
“Bodge friend, would you like some berries?”
Yet no two bonds are exactly alike. Each one is unique. Each one is special. As that red thread of fate brings them together. No matter the distance, they will find each other.
Destiney had been cautious at first. Not sure she wanted to love again. More then once she had been shot down, left feeling unworthy. Then along came the wolf to steal the maiden’s heart. She handed it over to him so willingly. Found herself wanting nothing more then to stay by his side. To have a family with him.
