The tune went quiet but picked back up after a few ticks. The location seemed to bounce off the buildings, the direction changing after long pauses. The same few bars of music played in repeat. The light breeze ruffling the leaves of trees and bushes.

Alex growled softly as he couldn’t locate the source of the music. It was frustrating and nerve wracking. He’d start walking in the direction of the music only for it to seem to change directions.

“Seven hells… Whoever you are come out! Or bugger off! I’m sick of these games! Let’s settle this.” Alex shouts. Looking about as he stood tense and ready. Paranoid over these mind games and ready to shank someone.

It had been a few sun with no other gifts. Until one night a melody could be heard not far from his window. It was familiar.

Alex frowned as he stopped cutting the vegetables for the dinner he was making. Keeping the knife with him as he prowled over towards the window. Hiding beside the window to first look and make sure there was no trap or someone waiting on the window ledge. Cause some people could be downright sneaky and clever enough for that. Closing his eyes for a moment when he seen nothing right away. Listening to the familiar melody and trying to place it. Where had he heard it before…

Moving away from the window, he switched his kitchen knife for a proper pair of blades. He headed outside to look around for the one playing the music, unsure if this was somehow related to the mystery gifts or just someone amusing themselves. Still he was tense and ready just in case though he was clearly playing it cool.

“Who’s out here playing music?” Alex called out as he looked around cautiously. Looking for any sign at all of the mystery player.

A few days of quiet then a collection of small sticks appeared in the ledge. They were arranged in a somewhat abstract manner.

Okay… Now he was confused. Still paranoid but now confused. What did a bunch of random arranged sticks have to do with the rest of the items. Making a rough sketch of the pattern they were left in before brushing them off the ledge. Well he did keep one. Likely to ask Sanagi what type of bush or tree they might have come from.

“Okay this is just getting bloody weird now…” Alex grumbled as he placed the sketch and single stick on the counter to deal with later. Another check on all the locks and traps. Even the hidden throwing blades.

Two days later a small link from a suit of chain mail appeared on the ledge.

A third item… Now he was beyond paranoid and more angry then anything. He was beginning to put together what the hints were now. First a rose. Then a green thread. Now this… A small piece from chainmail armor. Clearly someone had to be hinting about House Haillenarte.

“Seven hells….” He didn’t think someone would find him all the way down near Limsa of all places when he left Ishgard for good. Should have known better though. Not like he had been very subtle with his crimes against Haillenarte. Storming outside, not caring if residents thought he looked like a madman right now. He had something worth fighting for here. Not like when he lived in Ishgard.

“Don’t know who the hells you think you are! Stop hiding you coward!” Shouting as he hurled the small chain link. “I’m right here! Come and face me!”

The next day Alex would find a single green thread placed where the rose had laid.

“…”

First a rose. Now a green thread. Surely it couldn’t just be chance. Not in the exact same spot. Poking the thread with the tip of a throwing knife just to be safe before picking it up off the ledge. He tossed it onto the counter with a scowl towards it. Surely someone was messing with him. Hopefully? It made him even more paranoid now that it was two days in a row and different items. Whoever was messing with him was making him angry.

“Blood coward. If this is your way of sending me a message, just come out an say it.” Muttering the words as he once more checked all the locks and traps. For now he planned to keep the thread till he figured out what the message was and who was sending it. Going to sharpen his knives he kept hidden about the apartment.

(XD This is making him so paranoid and I’m dying laughing at my poor boy. <3)

There’s a single rose sitting on the window ledge of Alex’s apartment, what is the first through that goes though his head?

“What in seven hells…”

Alex frowned and looked around after spotting the rose. It wasn’t something Sana would have left was it? He hated roses. Reminded him of one of the High Houses of Ishgard. Not to mention how had someone gotten it onto his window ledge. Only a few people knew where he officially stayed. Finding something from the kitchen to scoop the rose up with, not trusting to touch it. For all he knew it was someone out to get him. He had enough enemies. Then proceeding to double check the locks and few traps he kept hidden about the place. The rose was promptly dumped outside into the ocean once he was satisfied.

(Thanks for the ask. XD Roses remind Alex of House Haillenarte. That happens to be one of the High Houses that want him arrested for murder and other crimes.)
