“Oh
so it is like that is it?” Lance chuckled as he watched Svan swiftly
descend. He was almost glad that he was rarely lax in training. If she
thought he might not be able to keep up he was ready to prove her wrong.

Lance followed suit down the steps, catching up with Svan. He matched
his pace to hers with a grin that was almost taunting. As if to ask was
this the best she could do. He figured if she tried she could probably
out pace him in his usual armor. But it seemed she was being
considerate. That was something that amused him.

“I seem to be keeping up just fine so far. I’m not one to sit around
Skyfire on my backside all day. I have every intention of helping
restore the Haillenarte name. Which means training daily.” He commented
as he kept pace. His eyes were bright with the enjoyment this day was
proving to be. He had expected another cold day of dull work. Instead he
found a potential friend. Potential being the keyword as he still took a
bit of time to trust anyone at that level after past incidents. “I
still think you are not crazy though.”

Her smile grew wider as at the knight’s enthusiasm. She didn’t know why she was acting like this, perhaps it was the excitement of finding a person like him. It has been a while since she had seen someone so positive without drowning themselves in ale first. And it was that excitement that prompted her to perform her next action: wind magic gathered around at her feet and with a burst of wind she propelled forward, a flurry of snow flew into the air as she did, and her laughter carried along with the wind.

As she flew forward the force would knock over a wandering deepeye, it fell face first into the snow with its feet kicking. Her figure would shrink with distance, and it seems as she flew a flock of blackbirds followed after her.

Lance was ready now to take back what he had said about her not being crazy as she propelled herself forward with a bit of magic. Granted it was a good kind of crazy. The kind that was often more fun then actually crazy. He laughed as he watched her getting away from him much easier now with the magical assistance.

He moved to sprint to try an not to lose her completely. Granted sprinting in armor was tiring but he was determined to keep at least from losing too badly. Though his sprint did slow a moment as he passed that deepeye in the snow. Those little feet kicking in the air. If he had had the breath to laugh right then instead of keeping up, he would have. It was a funny sight to see. He would at the very least have a story to tell someone later at the very least. For now he needed to try to catch up some even if he would never catch her with magic to help her. At times like now he wished he had been trained with some magic skill.

“Hardly ever mind you.”
Arthurioux

shook his head and sighed towards Lance. His hands were gentle as he
took to cleaning the head wound first before even making any attempts
with healing magic. “You’ve been in your fair share of fights in the
Brume with that Duskwight before. What was his name?”

“Let’s not bring him up.” Lance scowled an looked away.

“Lance
is a bleeding heart. Either he ends up on my doorstep or he comes with
someone else.” The older man explained to Crow as he checked over his
work before moving onto the healing magic, hoping to relieve the pain
and any serious damage that the young man might have suffered. “He means
well though.”

( @crowbrume from here – repost cause tumblr forgot to tell you an it’s way back in my posts now. This was just easier.)

“That is very… generous of you,” Crow said and then hissed in pain when the old man started checking on his wound. Not like he wasn’t used to being hurt, but the pain in his head which just became more or less bearable now was awoken again, and even if he knew that it was for his own sake – he didn’t like it much.

“Yeah, I see that Ser Lancefer here is a very nice guy,” he said, wincing in pain. “Picking up guys like me on the streets and all. Very, very kind of him…”

And kinda very reckless, but he didn’t say it out loud. Instead he decided to ask how serious his wounds are, because it was the most important thing right now. “also I really feel in debt to you all. Look, I’m not very good with house work or something, but if there’s something I can do for you to replay for your kindness, please, tell me.”

He let out another hiss and sighed. Now he felt tired and wondered if he would be allowed to stay here to take some rest once his wounds will be treated properly, or if he need to find another corner on the streets to spend this night again.

( @nebula1984 )

“You can just call me Lance. I’m not going to insist you keep calling me Ser or even Lancefer. It’s frankly quite a mouthful most days.” Lance shrugged from where he leaned, watching the older healer work on Crow.

“And reckless.” The old healer added for Crow, obviously not afraid to speak such to the knight in the room. “Though he has gotten a bit better lately with his reckless behavior. I have not seen him quite as much lately unless he has acquired a new healer.”

Lance smirked at
Arthurioux as he pushed away from the wall to walk over. Being careful not to crowd a healer at work. He looked over at Crow to check on the man. Both curious and concerned. He hadn’t missed those hisses of pain earlier while the healer had been cleaning the wound.

“I’m not that reckless. Honestly old man. You make me sound like such a careless fool.” Lance replied before looking to Crow as he was offering to repay the kindness. “It’s fine. Really. I come from a family that can afford it. Not that I spend much of what I earn either. Though if you are going to be stubborn and keep insisting… I’ll try to think of something if it would make you feel easier about it all.” This earned Lance a snort of amusement from the healer.

“I would like to keep the boy overnight at the very least. To make sure he is not likely to keel over despite my work.”
Arthurioux

said as he lowered his hands from Crow’s head when he was done.

“Of course. I know where the spare room is down the hall. Is that alright with you, or do you have another appointment with those thugs from earlier?” Lance looked towards Crow.

Lance couldn’t help but laugh at the comment on the other knights. He might be a knight but he was often still different then most of them. It amused him rather then offend him that she would make such a comment. Yet he also understood as well.

His gaze went back towards Falcon’s Nest. A casual shrug in answer to her question at first as he turned back to look at her again. He hadn’t really explained that the work he was doing here was extra. To benefit a friend. So it had only been logical to think he was a knight in service out here regularly.

“They are technically not my superiors out here. My superior is in command of Skyfire Locks south of Dragonhead. This is by rights my day off but decided to put in some extra work helping out a friend from one of the other High Houses. I actually serve House Haillenarte not Durendaire.” He spoke as he adjusted his gauntlets. “Besides I have would rather be anywhere but Ishgard recently. So let us call this a distraction for me. Again only if you do not mind the company of a knight who does actually mean well.”

He laughed. This man had a sense of humor, something she couldn’t help but smile slightly about. A knight who was quite far away from his post, and yet he would take time to come out here instead. She knew it all too well, to be off-duty from work and yet continue to lend a hand to those who needed it, or rather doing such a thing of his own volition.

It was quite familiar. A hand rose to rest on her hip as she gave it some thought. She never needed an escort, she took careful consideration of her time out in the highlands. However, Lancefer didn’t seem like a bad person and it would be rude of her to turn him away when he offered his company. Funny that she would come to the conclusion that a potential friend could be made, maybe she found it interesting to find someone similar like herself.

“Well then, Ser Lancefer, let’s see if your training allowed you to keep up with a crazy ragged crow.”

She replied with a laugh as she swiftly descended the steps, but going at a certain pace as to not let him lose track of her. Ink simply narrowed his eye before taking off to the skies to track the pair from above.

“Oh so it is like that is it?” Lance chuckled as he watched Svan swiftly descend. He was almost glad that he was rarely lax in training. If she thought he might not be able to keep up he was ready to prove her wrong.

It was not often that Em found herself in Ishgard as of late. A visit here, a party there. The last one being for Valentione’s. A hand brushed the diamond earrings that had become a part of her regular ensemble.

Lance knew better then to insist he could walk without help. Especially knew better then to say that to Em. She was not the typical Ishgardian lady. It would have probably been insulting to even bring up the idea to her as she helped him into the house. So he kept his mouth shut and instead relaxed knowing he was in good hands.

He set down heavily on the bed she had led him to, grunting slightly at the pain the movement caused. This was going to hurt. Getting the chain armor off because of the wound to his shoulder. He still remembered the last time this other shoulder had been injured. Yet there was no way he was going to let a bit of pain stop him.

“We were attacked out near Hemlock on the western side of Coerthas.” Lance spoke softly, speaking to distract himself as he removed his gauntlets first. Trying to focus on the words rather then the pain removing that armor was going to be. He grimaced as he got the armor off finally and letting it drop to the floor beside the bed. Everything had been above the waist so he wasn’t bothered with his boots at this moment. That would have been more movement of that shoulder then he cared to put effort into right now. “Five of them versus myself and my cousin. I am the only fighter between the two of us.”

The spear had left a shallow wound on his right side, a glancing blow that his cousin had kept from being worse then it looked. The worst injury was the stab wound one of the attacker’s swords had given him on the back of his left shoulder. Those two wounds were freshly bleeding slowly from the movement he had been doing between getting here and removing his armor.

“We were setup…” Lance clenched his hands into fists as he hung his head. “An I couldn’t do anything to stop them from taking my cousin… She went with them so they wouldn’t kill me…”

“Wait, let me walk you home.” – Dest, from Riski :)

Destiney felt like she had been running about to an from all day. Truth was she had been. There had been a influx of work from the Flames for her that day. Thankfully nothing to serious but the sheer amount of running around for them was wearing on her.

She had finally paused to take a break. The work had finally dwindled down to things that had no urgent need of being taken care of that moment. She wiped her lower arm across her forehead as she looked up at the sky above near High Bridge. The sky was already heading towards evening. Teleporting would have been easiest. Yet a part of her wanted to walk. Even if walking through South Shroud too late in the evening would prove dangerous, more so because of bandits then anything else.

She had just been about to begin walking when she heard the footsteps approaching first. A smile formed on her lips then as she heard that familiar voice call out to her. Blue eyes shined with a cheerful light as she turned to find Riski there. Sunshiney smile included.

“Riski! It’s so good to see you again.” Destiney pulled him into a warm hug, glad to see her friend. “Of course you may walk me home. I was going to go to Gridania though. Are you sure you still want to walk that far with me?”

( @ethereal-anomaly tag for Em! 😀 I told you I would do the thing. Just had to make small adjustments before posting it. :D)

Lance had managed teleport back to Ishgard. Barely. He was hurting fairly well though Yuti had tried to heal him then and there at Hemlock. He had allowed her to at least enough to stop the bleeding. He knew there had been more important concerns then his own sorry state. He just hoped they could find her while he hid and had his own wounds cared for. But the movements of walking through Ishgard had reopened the two worst wounds, drawing fresh blood because he had not allowed Yuti long enough before he had taken off.

He waved off any concerned guards as he moved through the city with purpose. Trying to hold his composure as much as he could to ward off questioning stares at his bloodied state. It was not unusual for soldiers to come home injured from a fight. Though most had at least had their wounds bandaged before walking around town.

He didn’t know who else he could trust right now. That letter from an old friend had been a lie. It had all been a ploy to capture his cousin. Alexois had been involved. Fury damn him. He could only hope now that Destiney was in good hands with her free company looking for her. So he went to the one person he knew he might be able to trust. One person who he knew would never think about siding with his family. He trusted her.

He paused before her door, having second thoughts about coming to her in this sorry shape. But she was one person who could help. Someone trusted when all else seemed to have gone to hell. He knocked upon the door, waiting for her to answer. He would give her an uneasy smile before sliding down to sit on the ground.

“I’m sorry for being in such a state. I did not know where else to turn…” Lance spoke softly, hand over the shallow slowly bleeding wound on his right side as he leaned back against the wall and closed his eyes. Among several other bruises and wounds, some of which were no longer bleeding thanks to Yuti’s attempt to heal him that he interrupted. There was a slice on his cheek, a busted lip, a small nick on his neck from the sword point, a stab wound on the back of his left shoulder, and a myriad of bruises in several places including his ribs.

“Who did this to you?” Lancefer’s expression set in a frown as he crossed his arms. (Sorry not sorry! :D Throwing my knight at you. Hope you don’t mind. <3)

Crow winced in pain, leaning against the wall and wiping away few blood drops from his face. None of his wounds were too serious, but still not good, he should find a way to take care of them. He glanced at the man in front of him and shrugged. “Apparently, after I managed to return to Ishgard after few years of absence, some of my…

acquaintance… weren’t too happy when I refused to continue the wonderful reunion in a more intimate manner…”

Crow let out a bitter chuckle and tilted head. “Anyway… Thank you for your concern, sir, but I don’t think that we’d ever met?” There was some suspicion heard in his voice, he tensed ready to run away if he needs to. The elezen knight who approached him didn’t look like he had bad intentions, but in places like this you could never know, and sometimes it may be a little too late.

“Here.” Lance pulled out a red square of cloth from a pocket an held it out towards Crow to wipe the blood. The frown had only deepened when the man had explained the reason he was beaten. He didn’t find it right what had been done but things like this happened in Ishgard. More often then he cared to admit. Especially in the Brume. He had been fortunate to never be in the situation this young man had been in. It still angered him but it was Crow’s problem. All he could do was offer his concern or help if the man asked for it since the men responsible had already fled off.

“No we have never met. At least not that I recall. Lancefer Aurifore, in service to House Haillenarte.” Lance gave Crow a slight bow of his head as he introduced himself. “Should get those injuries treated. Maybe report the assault to the Temple Knights.”

“A shiny knight, huh?” Crow grinned. “Who but someone like you would know better that Temple Knights rarely show their asses in Brume, not sure though if they are afraid to be hit on the head with a bottle by some drunkard, or simply don’t care about people living here…”

He accepted the offered cloth though, still looking a bit tensed. “Ah, but where are my manners. Name’s Crow, Crow Brume, sorry for not bowing properly, but I’m afraid I feel slightly dizzy to follow all the formalities.”

Sadly, it was truth. He didn’t feel too well, one of the men beating him probably hit his head a little too much. But Crow wasn’t going to admit it out loud, at least not yet.

(Sorry for making you wait, @nebula1984 Q~Q)

Lance couldn’t help but agree. The Brume wasn’t exactly the safest of places for anyone born of a higher class. He didn’t even usually wander this way often himself. He still remembered one of the few times he had. He knew just how dirty some of the people in the Brume could fight.

“No. It’s fine, Crow. You don’t have to bow to me. I was not expecting anything of that sort. But if you are feeling dizzy we should definitely get your examined by a healer. Head wounds shouldn’t be taken lightly.” Lance said with a frown as he looked Crow up an down, trying to assess the condition the man was in. However he was not a healer like his cousin. He didn’t quite have her eye for it but he had seen enough battle wounds. “Can you walk on your own or would you like a shoulder to lean on? I can look into what happened later myself if you want. But first you need medical attention.”

(It’s fine. I am patient. 😀 <3)

( @nebula1984 )

He stared at the knight suspiciously. He wasn’t sure why this guy so suddenly stopped here and decided to help. “Ah, so there still are good people among knights, huh?” He murmured quietly, mostly to himself, then shook his head.

“Sadly, I’m in no position to decline your help, ‘cause I obviously need it. Seeing a healer might be a good idea, but I don’t think that investigation will have any results, so there’s no need to worry about. I’ll just need to be more careful from now on.”

He suddenlt staggered slightly and had to grab Lance’s shoulder for support. “Wow… I guess it’s more serious than I thought…” He winced and rubbed his forehead. “My apologieze…”

Lance had a feeling looking into the matter would yield little results. Yet it was still something he had to offer. It wouldn’t have been to pretend it wasn’t a problem. The whole Brume was a problem. There was just so little he could do to actually fix something that had been this way for longer then he had been alive.

“No need to apologize. Here. Lean on me if you must.” Lance moved to help Crow. Thankfully there was only a few inches of difference in height between them. It would make it easier to offer the other man to lean against him. Lance went to put an arm around Crow’s back to try an steady him if he would let him. “Let’s get you to a healer before a simple head wound becomes the death of you.”

Lance led Crow out of the Brume and up towards a house of someone he knew. He knocked on the door with his free hand. An older man opened the door, pushing up his glasses as he examined the pair of them.

“Ser Lancefer. What fight did you get involved in this time?”

“Crow here needs his head looked at. He was jumped in the Brume by some thugs.” Lance nodded his head towards Crow. The older man motioned them inside an gestured for them to take a seat. “Arthurioux

is a retired healer who used to work for Haillenarte. He’ll get you fixed up.”
