“I’ve little doubt.” The words were sincere. With Destiney thus
occupied at the river, Bast moves to at least locate his trousers. It’s
something of a quandary as to how to put them on: his skin is still wet,
making putting clothing on both difficult and uncomfortable, but in
order to dry off he would need to remove the towel from around his
waist. The only option at this point was to wait until he air
dried. Bast pulled his hair over his shoulder and squeezed some of the
moisture out of it. “If I may ask, what does bring you out this way?”
Dest sighed as she rubbed her hands over her face. She didn’t hear the rustle of clothing. Which could only mean he wasn’t dressing. But regardless she didn’t turn around to look because she knew her face was probably still very red. She shook the remaining water droplets from her hands as she stood up.
“I was feeling restless and in need of a walk. I figured I would wander over this way because water is calming. I really hadn’t expected to find you here and…” She coughs and scratches her cheek lightly, still facing away from him so that she wouldn’t be as tempted to touch or stare. “Find you bathing. I really do apologize. I mean I do tend to just randomly find you most of the time anyways. So why not today.” She laughs softly and shrugs. Finally glancing over her shoulder slightly to at least see where he was. Eyes catching sight of the scarring again. It felt like she couldn’t help but be drawn to it.
“Oops”
The river wended its way through the forest like a particularly wiggly snake, interrupted occasionally by a waterfall, a fallen tree, or an interesting set of rapids. Basteaux usually preferred to make camp nearby to the river if only for the sake of convenience. It was a convenience he had decided to take advantage of on such a warm late afternoon.
Having thoroughly cleansed himself of the lingering taint of morbol slime, Basteaux left the powerful crash of the waterfall and swam to the edge of the deep little pool. His clothes were folded neatly on a rock, his strong bow and full quiver resting beside them. Atop his pile of clothes was a towel that he used to dry his face and give his hair a rough tousle.
The sound of rustling in the underbrush saw him hastily tie the towel around his hips and lunge for the bow, nocking and drawing an arrow in one quick and smooth motion. A moment later and he recognized the person who had intruded upon him. He lowered the bow. “Oh. It’s you.”
He seemed vaguely perturbed, but otherwise unconcerned to be found almost entirely in the nude. His long, dripping hair hung loose around his shoulders, but perhaps the most striking thing about his appearance was the large sunburst of scarring on his left side and over part of his abdomen. Its tendrils crackled like lines of white lightning over his dusky skin. Making no move to cover himself further, Basteaux set the bow down again beside his clothes. “You have an uncanny knack for showing up in the most surprising of places.”
Destiney nearly took a step back as the first thing she saw was a arrow trained on her. Finally taking a moment to sigh in relief when she caught sight of who it was and he lowered that arrow. Her hand came to rest over her heart at the brief moment of fright. Thinking maybe she had stumbled across a bandit on accident.
Now that she finally had a true moment to focus… Oh boy. Her cheeks were bright red and her mouth dropped open for a moment as she stared at Basteaux’s mostly nude form. Mentally she had to chide herself for staring like she was. So impolite. Yet she couldn’t help it. Between the magnitude of the scarring on his body and just in general seeing so much of his dusky skin without clothing. Of course her imagination was already trying to picture him without the towel. She literally was about to slap herself for it. Bast was her friend and he had treated her like a sister the last time they had met. She didn’t need to be thinking of him like that.
Besides what had caused that extensive scarring… There was an urge to reach out and touch that scar. A need to ask about it. Yet she was unsure. The odds were high that he would get defensive or walk away. Last thing she wanted was to make him angry with her. It was all so very frustrating. So she forced a smile as she looked towards the water then rather at him any longer before her mouth could put her in hot water. She could still feel her cheeks burning. “Sorry… I really don’t mean to do it. It just happens.”
Argh! Why did he have to look so good even with the scars… Dest finally sighs and walks over to kneel next to the river so she could splash some cold water on her face.

Destiney nearly paused when Nozomi asked her why. She let the silence linger a moment longer as she decided how she wanted to answer that question. “Does a person need a reason to help someone?”
A heavy sigh and a shake of her head before looking over her shoulder back towards the woman. “Actually… I do it because I watched someone I loved die. He saved my life yet I couldn’t save his. So now I want to protect those I care about.”
Destiney gives a casual shrug before adjusting her bow against her back. “I just don’t feel right ignoring others who are hurt now. Even if they are strangers. If I can save someone then I’ll do it. Because it’s the right thing to do.”

Araris Vairoy: “Did…did you peel a pear?”
Syluss Koellian: “A pear? No. Like… five of ‘em.” He continues making kabobs and hangs them over the fire. “Yvette hates the skin and I have use for it. Plus the babies don’t have teeth yet. At least not all of em.“
Destiney Delvanguard chuckles softly in answer to Syl. "I’m not picky as long as it’s not seafood.” She fiddles with her one earring as she looks towards Elphanse. “True but I think they were more upset that he was a Midlander then anything. He held a very good position among the Gods’ Quiver so we never wanted for anything. They were more concerned with a good bloodline. Shame on them."
Araris Vairoy wasn’t going to say it.
Araris Vairoy wouldn’t dare.
Araris Vairoy: "It’s good to see that you were….pre-pear-ed."

Just a quick doodle the other day.
Cigar Galaxy: How’s your flirting skills?

“Decent enough when I want to flirt. Though I admit I don’t often anymore. I guess the losses I’ve suffered this year have been enough to not want to be interested right now.” Dest smiles charmingly as she rests her chin in her hands at the table she was sitting at. “Sorry if you were looking for a first hand show of those skills. Maybe another time.” She winks and laughs softly.

“Flirting skills?! Are you serious?!” Stefan blushes and waves both his hands in front of him as if to ward off the question. “Out of the question! I do not flirt! Shoo. Away with you!”

Aldebaran: What’s something you care desperately about?

“My friends and family of course. I’d do whatever I need to find ways to protect them. Those I choose to let close to me are those I treasure. To me they are everything and a reason to keep pushing forward no matter what life throws at me.”

Stefan frowns and looks down at the ruby carbuncle curled at his feet. “Esper. My family. I don’t have a lot worth caring that desperately about. But those three are all I really have. I care about ruins and research but those are numerous.”
